OUR HISTORY
Crispin Fletcher, the founder of Secondwind Environmental, left the computer industry to pursue a Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies. In 1989 he was joined by two other ex-patriots of hi-tech - his wife Christine, and Jan Beauvais. Jan brought a degree in bio-chemistry, Christine an MBA. All three had many years of experience in large corporations and were ready to work in something small and personal.
Informal market research had shown them that an opportunity existed in New Hampshire water treatment. Many water treatment systems were sitting in basements, unplugged, the owners having given up on having good water. Many were living with marginally performing systems, not knowing that they could have consistently good water in their homes.
The founders of Secondwind Water Systems set out to become the technically superior company differentiating themselves from more characteristically sales focused dealers. The Kinetico™ line of twin-tank, non-electric water conditioners was taken on, allowing Secondwind Water Systems to offer a unique, premium, and environmentally sensitive product. The owners set out to acquire the knowledge and experience necessary to become the leader in the area.
They named the company Secondwind Environmental to signify the fresh start the three owners were getting and to conjure the image that we might be given a second chance with our environment if we start to act now.
In 2002 the company was renamed to Secondwind Water Systems, Inc. to more clearly identify the work of the company in the marketplace.
