Situation
An animal hospital approached Secondwind for help treating an iron and odor problem. The hospital already had a treatment system in place to service the hospital and the owners home nearby on the property. Another water treatment provider installed the system and serviced it four times a year; however, it was not working effectively.

Goals
The goal in this particular case was two-fold: evaluate the existing system to determine why it was not functioning properly and devise a cost-effective solution to solve the iron problem.

Challenges
The hospital had already spent a considerable amount of money on their water treatment and were not interested in starting over. The existing challenges related to understanding why the current system was not working effectively and what it would take to fix it.

Solution
Secondwind approached the problem scientifically and from a service point of view. They determined that the treatment steps in place were correct, but the order of treatment was causing a build up of iron precipitates within the system. By changing the order of the equipment and replacing the system media, Secondwind was able to put the existing system to work more effectively and efficiently.

Results
The animal hospital now has a water treatment system that operates correctly, delivering iron free water that reflects well on their operation. Additionally, they will save money over time with the need for only one service call annually.
